Funding Strategies

There has been considerable pressure on the Sunshine Coast Regional Council to bring the incredibly diverse Sunshine Coast community together. Now the council has the uncertain distinction of being the fourth largest council in Australia with assets of approximately $5billion and an annual budget of $650million and the challenging role of achieving a balanced and sustainable future for this region.

The National Institute of Socio-Economic and Environmental Research (NISER) is in consultation with the Sunshine Coast Regional Council’s Economic Development and Council Entrepreneurship portfolio to increase the National Stock Exchange (NSX) presence on the Sunshine Coast, and is also working to build further on existing relationships with chambers of commerce, industry bodies and higher educational institutions in the region. NISER have also added their supporting comments to the current Federal Government review of regional development models, positioning the NSX as a vital component of regional economic development throughout Australia. NSX Business Growth Summit

NISER representatives will make up more than 300 delegates that are expected to attend a two-day NSX Business Growth Summit to be held at the Crown Promenade in Melbourne in October. The Sunshine Coast will be represented by Sean Rothsey, Deputy Chairman of NISER and the imperatives will assist NISER in facilitating outcomes with the Economic Development and the Council Entrepreneurship Unit of the Sunshine Coast Regional Council. Slump won’t affect Coast’s NSX float

A dramatic slump in the value of company floats on the Australian Securities Exchange in the first half of 2008 has not dented prospects for securing listings on the Sunshine Coast board, expected to be launched on the National Stock Exchange in the coming months.
